Self care has been a big topic for a couple years now and I am more than happy it has come into the spotlight. As I do believe we all need to invest more time and effort into taking good care of ourselves. The more grounded and centered we are, the better impact we will have on others. One of my favorite phrases: “You can’t pour from an empty cup” it is so so so true and always a great reminder whenever life gets busy.
As you can see from the images, that was my focus, self care – lets dive in!
Vitamin C
My mom has been wanting to try out a Vitamin C as I have been raving about all the benefits. I personally had a bit of a reaction to it at first. I tried a serum right away and my skin was just not ready for it yet. I’ve been learning it is very crucial to take baby steps with skincare and what works for you, may not work for someone else. We are all so different so it is important to always test small areas and give your skin time to adjust which can take months. After diving deep into gathering information from dermatologists I concluded a great one to incorporate at first is a cream form with Vitamin C and other incredible goodies like peptides by Olay.
Sunscreen
Oh boy! I will admit I have been so bad about this myself but after all the research, I will now lather myself in sunscreen. All the dermatologists have stated there is absolutely no need for skincare products if you are not using sunscreen on a daily bases. I took a very deep breath because I wish I would have known that sooner. Vitamin C is wonderful to use in the morning as it is an antioxidant and it amplifies the broad sunscreen protection from free radicals. There are so many wonderful sunscreen brands to pick from, I really love La Roche Posay and I know it is suited for sensitive skin. This particular option is mineral based which I prefer as it does not sting the eyes.
Bath Salts
This is a necessity for a bath as it has so many incredible overall health benefits! There are varies great options to pick from Epson salts to Himalayan salts – this particular one is a sea salt base with dried up botanicals with a little extra ambiance.
Perfume
A fragrance is always a great idea unless the person is allergic or doesn’t wear any perfume. It is a great way to try out something new but since it is very personal it’s a good idea to either know what the person usually likes or as I do gather a bunch of samples and see which one speaks to them.
Wine
You can never go wrong with wine, of course unless the person you are gifting to does not drink than its a flop of an idea. I’ve been diving into biodynamic wines lately and I am really pleased. Biodynamic wine process is noted to be held at a higher standard than of the Organic wine. I found some at my local Whole Foods to try out.
Cookware
We can’t mention self care without nourishing food or for this particular portion the tools to make the food. Picking non toxic cookware is very important for your overall being. This Caraway nonstick non toxic cookware has all of that plus the set is super cute!
Micro Current
This device is something new that I’ve been looking into. Its role is to stimulate the facial muscles, improve elasticity and collagen production, help with fine lines and pigmentation. A fun device to try out to switch up that skincare routine.
Hand Cream
I couldn’t decide on just one hand cream so I narrowed them down to 4 options that are a bit more costly than a drug store option (which are also absolutely wonderful but I’m going for the ones that my mom personally would not buy). All of these have great hydrating ingredients and emollients to protect the skin moisture barrier of the hands and lots of raving reviews by users and dermatologists.
